About Lalangue

Lalangue will exist purely as a space to gather around the critical study and practice of art in its unique incertitude... in fact, this is precisely where the name Lalangue comes from. The unhinged and brilliant French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan invented this term by combining the la and langue of 'tongue' or 'language' in French, and he used this portmanteau to describe that which is at once ineffable and abject about language and representation: something in expression that goes beyond or lies just behind meaning; something musical, babbling, homophonic, ab-sensical; something like what is touched, glanced, in the best and most radical of art. The Mother Tongue. Lalangue, our project, sits in this blurriness in hopes that by doing so we get to meet one another in ways we're often denied: all equally unknowing, curious, and with the aim of understanding how the world came to be, as well as how it might be made wonderfully unfamiliar.
